What Is Video Debanding?
Color banding (also called posterization) is the visible stair-stepping that appears across smooth gradients when footage is compressed, encoded at 8-bit, or pushed too far in grading.
Debanding is the corrective process of restoring the original smooth tonal transitions — through dithering, regrade, and selective noise reinjection — without sacrificing sharpness or texture.
